The Presentation of the Lord

HOLY FAMILY PARISH KILL-O-THE-GRANGE

Parish Mission Statement

Our Parish seeks to live as a family – supporting one another, open to all comers, building a community where each person feels wanted and cared for. To make this happen, we will work to grow in holiness through prayer and service and we will try to show God’s love in our daily lives.

Visit to the Lourdes Grotto, at the Oblate Fathers, Inchicore in honour of the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes on Tuesday 11th of February. This Grotto, a replica of the Grotto at Lourdes, was completed in 1930 mainly by volunteer labour for the people of Ireland who could not afford to travel to France. Many thousands attended the opening ceremony.

In honour of this great feast, there will be a Lourdes Mass at 7 pm followed by a torch-lit procession. Fare €10. A bus will leave Holy Family parish church and Sallynoggin churches at 5:30 pm to travel to Inchicore.

Please avoid disappointment by booking early and paying for seats in advance. Please come and join us on this special night. Contact Maria Monaghan 01 – 2856069.

Bro. Kevin O.F.M.Cap. sincerely thanks all, on behalf of the Capuchin Day Centre, who donated €3,515 through Christmas Cards (2019) to that cause.

REST IN PEACE

Your prayers are requested for the souls of the following whose anniversaries occur about this time:

Robert + Bob Humphries, George + Seán Confrey

MAY THEIR SOULS AND THE SOULS OF ALL THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED THROUGH THE MERCY OF GOD REST IN PEACE.  AMEN.

Mass, faith and the environment

As a human being, you are intimately concerned with and affected by climate change.  But if you are reading this it is also because you are also a regular mass-goer and member of the worldwide Catholic faith community.  And because you are a Catholic, you know that there are fundamental reasons of faith and belief to commit to the ecological conversion in your own life and in our society at large that the Pope has called for in his landmark 2015 encyclical on the environment Laudato Si.  So pray, act and vote accordingly as your conscience guides you.

WELCOME THE WORD – LECTIO DIVINA
Lectio Divina begins

  • By reading a passage from the gospels
  • Then reflecting on it quietly
  • Next sharing thoughts on what was said or happened years ago
  • Finally, praying for the grace to respond to what the Lord is saying to us now, personally and collectively.
  • Come, on Friday after 10 am Mass for about half an hour (unless there is a funeral)
