This consists of the laying on of hands, followed by anointing of sick baptised person with the oil of the sick by a priest. It is given especially to those in danger of death from sickness, injury or old age.
This sacrament unites a sick person’s suffering with that of Jesus Christ and conveys forgiveness of sins. Oil, a symbol of strength, is the sign of this sacrament.
