Parish Environment Group

Wasting away?

Avoidable waste (which we are all guilty of, in one way or another) is a form of injustice. In a world of scarce resources, it is an injustice to the poor. In a world threatened by environmental degradation, it is an injustice to the creation and to future generations.

Lord, help us to make better use of the goods you have given us by wasting less of them, especially food.

Parish Environment Group

The Parish Environment Group is planning an information Evening in the Autumn on the subject Food waste and how to reduce it.

The event will be supported by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co. Council and an expert facilitator will provide practical advice on steps that households can take to reduce current levels of food waste.

To gauge the level of interest in the topic, PEG will carry out a brief survey over the next two weekends August 31st / September 1st and September 7th / 8th.

Survey sheets will be placed on the tables at the entrances of the church and you are invited to tick on the sheet if you would be interested in attending such an event and your preference for the day of the week.

The event would be held in the |Parish Resource Centre at 7.45 pm

WELCOME THE WORD – LECTIO DIVINA

Lectio Divina begins

  • by reading a passage from the gospels
  • Then reflecting on it quietly
  • Next sharing thoughts on what was said or happened years ago
  • Finally, praying for the grace to respond to where the Lord is saying to us now, personally and collectively

Come, on Friday after 10am Mass for about half an hour (unless there is a funeral)
