THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME A

Keeping Our Lamps Trimmed and Burning

This Sunday, Our readings invite us to contemplate the virtue of holy wisdom and the essential Christian duty of spiritual readiness. THIS WEEK'S READINGS: First Reading: Wisdom 6:12-16

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 62:2-8: Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18: Gospel: Matthew 25:1-13

In the Gospel (Matthew 25:1-13), Jesus shares the parable of the ten bridesmaids. We are reminded that the  door was closed against those who failed to keep vigil or trim their lamps. As Christians, our daily concern must be an active readiness for the call of the Lord. We are called to seek the light of Christ in our everyday actions and to keep the flame of faith received at our baptism burning brightly. True wisdom is not passive; it is found in eagerly longing for the Lord and preparing our hearts to meet Him at any hour.

Reflections on Caring for Our Common Home

Caring for our common home is not simply an environmental issue; it is a profoundly human, spiritual, and theological matter that concerns our relationship with God, with others, and with the world we inhabit.

Following the path opened by Laudato si’, the document reminds us that caring for our common home does not arise solely from the urgency of the ecological crisis but belongs to God's very plan for creation. For this reason, our response cannot be limited to technical solutions: it also requires cultural transformation and genuine spiritual conversion.

Annual Remembrance Mass
The annual Mass commemorating those whose funerals took place at Holy Family Parish Church over the past year (mid-October 2025 – 17 October 2026) will be celebrated on Sunday, 8th November at 10:00 a.m. Who: Families and friends of the deceased are especially welcome. Hospitality: Refreshments will be served after Mass.

Remembering the Holy Souls This November

During November, the Church invites us to remember and pray for our deceased family, friends, and neighbours. In our Catholic tradition, our prayers, sacrifices, and acts of charity offer comfort to the Holy Souls.

Cemetery Visits: From 1st to 9th November, a plenary indulgence applicable only to the souls in Purgatory can be gained by devoutly visiting a cemetery and praying for the dead under the usual conditions.  Sacred Space: Visit our parish remembrance area to light a candle or offer a quiet prayer.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

Altar List of the Dead (2026)
Lists and envelopes are available on tables near the church doors. Please clearly write the names of your deceased relatives and friends, and return the envelope to the church safe, sacristy, or office. Mass for those on the Altar list is offered at 10:00 a.m. on the First Friday of every month (circumstances permitting).
