BAKER’S CAR PARK UPDATE
Baker's Car Park.
With Bakers Pub now demolished, it is now a building site with all parking closed off to businesses, customers, clients and other unauthorised users, such as roadworkers, park and ride people. This closure has resulted in many requests for access to the Parish Car Park as an alternative, and to be accessible day and night.
These varied requests are impossible for the parish to
meet, considering the high-volume use of upwards of 50 cars plus parked daily in Bakers. There are also many other considerations to be considered such as insurance cover in the event of
accidents or damages occurring with non-church associated vehicles/personnel while on
church grounds.
It is important that the parish car park is maintained and controlled by the parish for church services and parish resource centre activities in a dignified manner, and to avoid a “free for all” with vehicles coming and going as they please.
While current controls are limited and insufficient, over the coming weeks, they are being
improved with details of the same to be communicated to all in due course.
All enquiries for use of the car park have been or are being considered with the best interest of
the parish in mind. Where limited permission may be granted to third parties, it will be subject to
terms and conditions by way of a written agreement to protect the interest of the parish.
In the meantime, to all parishioners and resource centre users of the car park, please be patient in the event of checks on vehicles entering the car park. Your co-operation is appreciated. Thank you.
