Donations and Contributions.
Regarding the many parish collections, to avoid confusion and for clarification purposes, in the main, these can be identified as financial support for the Diocese or the Parish.
Diocesan Donations
All weekly mass collections, i.e. 1st Collection Common Fund and 2nd Collection Share, are sent in full directly to the archdiocese, to be managed as per the following.
Common Fund. The 1st Collection mass collection, together with Common Fund envelopes, is for the support of the priests, both active and retired.
Share Fund. The 2nd Collection, which includes mass collection and Share envelopes, contributes to the diocesan support services for parishes and provides financial assistance to low-income parishes.
Christmas, Easter, and Summer dues, along with all special collections (which sometimes replace the Share collection), are sent in full to the archdiocese.
“Tap & Go” green machines situated within the church are for diocesan donations, with all monies directly contributing to the Common & Share funds on a 60/40 divide.
Parish Donations
The following are the only funds that stay in the parish to cover day-to-day expenses (lighting, heating, insurance, staff salaries, liturgical supplies, parish office, security, professional services, IT, general maintenance and repairs, etc.
How can you financially support the Parish and its activities?
Voluntary Family Offerings.
VFO envelopes are available in the church pews for donations, which can then be deposited in the blue boxes near to the church exits, or the safe situated on the west side of the church (Bakers Pub).
No amount is too small; every contribution helps enormously towards meeting the ever-increasing financial challenges facing the parish.
Standing Orders
The most efficient way of financially supporting the parish is by way of a standing order. This reduces administration costs, giving a guaranteed income weekly, monthly or biannually to meet current and future expenses. Click here to obtain a standing order form, which can also be collected in the parish office.
Online Donation
To facilitate online donations through the Parish Website, a “Parish Fund” donation button has now been added.
Online donations can also be made through the white “Tap & Go” machine situated on the west side of the church (Bakers Pub).
Blue Box.
There are 3 “blue boxes” near the church exits to facilitate cash donations and the depositing of Family Offering envelopes.
Making a bequest in your will.
In preparing a will, a gift of any size is yet another way of one’s continued support in the liturgical life, day-to-day running costs and ongoing maintenance expenditure of the Parish.
Tax Relief
Under the Finance Act, there is a scheme on donations to eligible charities for accumulative dues and parish contributions of €250 or more made by a tax-paying parishioner in a calendar year.
Donations by tax-paying donors can be increased to the benefit of the parish through a tax rebate by completing and returning a CHY 3 form, which lasts for 5 years, or a CHY4 form, which lasts for 1 year.
Forms are available near church exits. If you need assistance with this scheme, please contact the parish office at Ph. 01 842 5299 weekdays between 10:30 and 12:00 am.
Over recent years, the Parish has incurred exceptional expenditure of tens of thousands of euros on No. 1 Presbytery, the church heating system, and ongoing church roof leaks. The parish contingency fund is almost depleted, at a time when parish income is just about meeting day to day expenses with no surplus to meet essential works to,
- Upgrading The Church Fire Alarm System to meet current regulations
- Rectifying recurring leaks to the church roof, a roof that is now beyond its expected life span.
- Rectify extensive leaks to the Parish Resource Centre Roof
- Resurface car park (annually, stopgap repairs are necessary to fill in potholes)
- Complete the painting of the church (the bottom section was painted to mark the 50th anniversary)
Thanks
The financial support of parishioners across all parish collections, i.e., Parish Fund, Charities and Dioceses, is very much appreciated at these challenging times for all, and the parish looks forward to your continued and necessary financial support.
